This aim is achieved according to the invention by means of a high-voltage transformer for the power supply of a magnetron in a microwave oven, of the type comprising a primary coil, a first high-voltage secondary coil and a second secondary coil for the heating of the magnetron, the transformer furthermore comprising a casing formed by a body and three Low Cost LFZB8-6kV Current Transformer With Good Quality and mutually parallel flanges, the three flanges being spaced out in sets of two to enable the winding, around the body, firstly of the first secondary coil and secondly of the second secondary coil, the two coils being superimposed along an axis perpendicular to the flanges, wherein said body is substantially parallelepiped-shaped, the primary coil is placed in a parallel position at the side of the second secondary coil along said axis and is separated from said second coil by two magnetic shunts and the flange between the primary coil and the second secondary coil has a recess so that the magnetic shunts are fully in contact with the primary coil and the second secondary coil.


Care must be taken that the secondary winding of a CT is not disconnected from its low-impedance load while current flows in the primary, as this may produce a dangerously high voltage across the open secondary (especially in a relaying type CT) and could permanently affect the accuracy of the transformer. Transformers for use at power or audio frequencies typically have cores made of high permeability silicon steel 27 The steel has a permeability many times that of free space and the core thus serves to greatly reduce the magnetizing current and confine the flux to a path which closely couples the windings. With a voltage source connected to the primary winding and a load connected to the secondary winding, the transformer currents flow in the indicated directions and the core magnetomotive force cancels to zero.

A high-voltage current transformer may contain several cores, each with a secondary winding, for different purposes (such as metering circuits, control, or protection). If the burden resistance is much less than inductive impedance of the secondary winding at the measurement frequency then the current in the secondary tracks the primary current and the transformer provides a current output that is proportional to the measured current. For temporary connections, a split ring-type current transformer can be slipped over a cable without disconnecting it. This type has a laminated iron core, with a hinged section that allows it to be installed over the cable; the core links the magnetic flux produced by the single turn primary winding to a wound secondary with many turns.
